Somewhere between a designer and a pure coder. ‘Creative Developer’ is the best way I can sum myself up.

Alex Hardy

Coming from a design background, I enjoy being involved in the creative process. That may be defining a project scope, or adding my two cents’ worth on user experience, visuals and interactivity.

I have a regular consulting position with RMS PR, where I’ve been supporting existing websites and building new ones since early 2023. I’ve gained the joking nickname “The Fixer” among that team, which makes me sound a little like someone who can help you dispose of a body. I prefer to think it’s because I’ve got a knack for solving problems rather than anything suspicious!

How I can help

Website development

Web development

My main offering is building bespoke, responsive websites using WordPress as the content management system (CMS). It’s what I spend most of my time doing.

With experience of a variety of systems I focus on building sites that are well thought out, easy to manage, flexible and extendable. I organise the development process so the client is informed at all times and make the process of content entry as easy as possible.

Email campaigns

email-campaigns

Building bespoke campaigns takes a particular set of skills, and when your experience is long enough, working methods can be upcycled!

Combining some old-school HTML techniques with newer ideas like responsive design and high resolution images so emails look great on mobile – where we do a lot of our email reading.

For email delivery my weapon of choice is Campaign Monitor – but I’ve worked with my share of alternatives.

Display ads

Adobe Animate

One more example of skill upcycling. I spent several years building ad banners, full websites and even desktop applications in Adobe Flash. So I know my way around its surviving descendant, Animate.

I can take your banner designs and bring them to life, while meeting the specifications supplied by your media agency. Between weeks-long website build projects this is often a nice change of pace!

Happy Hardy clients

What are you looking for in a developer?

Clients want business results – caring about technical quality is my job not theirs. Here are some qualities I find clients do care about. I’ve got over 50 recommendations from clients and colleagues on LinkedIn, so I’ll let those speak for themselves.
